Hongkong telegram No. 55 to Canton of May 10th, repeated to Secretary of State for Colonies.

You will probably wish me to protest against this renewed

violation of New Territory.

Protest will be more effective if I

am authorised at the same time to say that any further aeroplanes violating New Territory render themselves liable to anti-aircraft

fire.

Military and Naval Authorities here both deny aeroplanes which violated New Territory before (see my telegram No. 372) were Japanese as they have given strict instructions that New Territory was not to be violated. I could add that warning which I give to Japanese Government is also being given to the Chinese Government.

Addressed to Foreign Office No. 420 May 13th; repeated to Shanghai No. 335 and Hongkong No. 82.
